Chuck and Norm Kile have been remodeling kitchens across the Coeur d'Alene region for more than 30 years. We've built kitchens of every style and size, from historic downtown homes to lakefront new builds, and we know what layouts, cabinets, and finishes hold up to real Idaho family life.

We also know the ins and outs of local permitting and inspections on both sides of the state line. FAQ

Kitchen Remodeling Questions

Straight answers to what homeowners ask most before starting a kitchen remodel.

How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Most kitchen remodels run 4–10 weeks depending on scope. A cosmetic refresh (paint, counters, hardware) can be done in a few weeks. A full gut with new cabinets, stone, flooring, and layout changes typically takes 8–10 weeks. You'll get a written schedule with your estimate.
Can I stay in my home during a kitchen remodel?
Yes, most homeowners do. We set up a temporary prep area (often in the garage or dining room), contain dust with plastic walls, and protect adjacent rooms. Expect to be without the main kitchen for several weeks during cabinet and countertop install.
Do you design the kitchen or do I need a designer?
We can design the kitchen with you, layout, cabinetry, materials, and finishes, or build from a designer's drawings. Either way, you get one accountable contractor from start to finish.
Do you handle cabinets and countertops, or do I source them?
We handle both. We work with local Northern Idaho cabinet shops and stone fabricators we trust, and we'll walk you through options that fit your style and budget. You're welcome to source finishes yourself if you prefer.
Can you move walls or change the layout?
Yes. Opening the kitchen to the living area, relocating appliances, or adding an island is one of the most common things we do. Load-bearing changes are engineered and permitted properly.
Do you pull permits for a kitchen remodel?
Yes. Electrical, plumbing, and structural work requires Idaho or Washington permits. We pull them and coordinate every inspection with the local jurisdiction so you don't have to. Call (208) 660-2470 or request a meeting online to get started.
